It is harder being your boss, than collecting a check every 2 weeks, you have to not only motivate yourself, you have to motivate you staff and you have to constantly wake up and face the challenges, you get dropped down on your knees daily, you have to get back up and dust your shoulders off and dust your knees off and keep it moving. My post college bills that made my L.A. dreams seem unrealistic, but I moved to California in May of 2005 with the money I got for graduation and I aggressively hit the pavement running. I had a few contacts and I called them A LOT. I told anyone who would listen what I wanted to do. I went out as much as I could to events w/people who worked in the industry and tried to really get into the “mix” of what was going on. I worked as a bartender for months, while temping during the daytime developing my talent as an executive assistant. Got me an interview which led to my first Hollywood job. -DaVida Chanel
